The city of Nicosia was divided into Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot areas after the Cyprus conflict of 1974. In the summer of 1974, the north of the island was occupied by Turkish forces after Greek coup plotters tried to force the annexation of Cyprus to Greece.

In November 1983, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was proclaimed in the Turkish-occupied part. To this day, the Republic of Northern Cyprus is only recognised as an independent state by Turkey.

Nevertheless, you can easily visit both the southern and the northern part of Nicosia with us!

After reaching Nicosia, we show you the Paphos Gate, the old entrance to the city through the well-preserved medieval city wall. Here you can already see the fortified border fortifications, the no-mans-land, guarded by UN troops. A few minutes further by car we are already in the middle of the old town of Nicosia, park the car and after a short walk through the pedestrian zone, the street (Ledra Street) is interrupted by a border crossing, passport control and you are already in a completely different world. Many small shops invite you to browse and some magnificent medieval buildings such as the old caravan station Büyük Han, a proud mosque, stately buildings that now house museums and a bazaar are waiting to be discovered by you. But only as you wish. Before we leave the „north“ again, we take advantage of one of the numerous restaurants for a typical Turkish lunch.

Please note:

• We will pick you up at your hotel or arrange a meeting point with you. We will then take you on a tour to Nicosia included a bordercrossing (don´t forget your passport), without the stress, hectic pace and time pressure of other guests. We will show you the famous Paphos Gate, the Ledra Street with the border, the UN-Zone, in the northern part of Nicosia Büyük Han, the old city, a bazaar and some more. We’ll find out what really interests and excites you. So our tour with you is very personal. Don’t worry, we won’t tell you any novels about the historical buildings, we’ll just give you some information and give you time to take in the impressions and / or take photos.

• Before we leave the turkish part of Nicosia, we´ll invide you in a restaurant, so that you can enjoy a lunch. If you prefer not to eat meat, vegetarian or vegan options are also available.
• We will pick you up at your hotel at 9:00. You must be dressed appropriately to enter the interior of churches and mosques. Knees and shoulders covered, a big scarf sometimes helps the ladies a lot.
  All in all, the tour lasts between 4.5 and 5 hours, it depends on you, because this event is only for you and your family, partner or friends that you book in.
